Apple Torte

    3 tablespoons butter, softened

    1 cup sugar

    1 egg

    1 cup flour

    1 teaspoon baking soda

    ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

    ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

    ½ teaspoon salt

    3 cups peeled and diced apples

    3 tablespoons chopped walnuts

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Light whipped topping

 

    In a mixing bowl, cream butter, sugar and egg. 

    Stir together dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture (batter will be very thick).     

    Stir in the apples, nuts and vanilla. 

    Spread into an 8 inch  square pan coated with nonstick cooking spray. 

    Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until cake tests done.             

    Serve warm or cold.  Garnish with whipped topping.
